Stop Running For Cover

I know come mid July-August alot of Bass fishermen start running for cover, and I don't mean log's bridge piling's or any of that type of cover. I mean running for cover in the nice Air Conditioned house. Many fishermen think it is to hot, and that the bass won't bite. The truth is we just have to take a different approach. You may not be able to burn the water up with spinners in 110 degree weather. However we have a Great approach many angler's choose to ignore or just simply forget that will make your hot day on the water even hotter!!

We are talking about Pitchin' & Flippin' Jig's, Tube's, and Worm's. The hot day's on the water bass run for cover into flooded brush, thick weed mats or some other cool, shady cover. They will not chase after craw fish and minnow's on these day's. Bass may not want to travel the 3 feet to the other side of that rock to hit a spinner. When bass are hunkered down they may only bite on a reaction to something invading there territory.

That's when we have to go to Pitchin' & Flippin' to produce the most amount of bite's. Alot of angler's like to put there jig's away when water warms up. They think of jig's as a cold water lure. I am here to tell you that there are few bait's better at going trough the thick ruff territory that we have to charter trough to get to are big bass.

I like to use a 6 1/2 - 7ft. rod when flippin'. It allows me to pin point my jig between the rock and log, or that one patch three feet wide on that grass bed. The better you get the thicker the cover you can cover. It just take's time and practice. Another great plus is that when you flippin' jig's they barely make a splash to scare away fish.

Just because the fish are running for cover on these hot day's doesn't mean we have to now!! Stay on the water and try this technique out!! It is liable to make a hot day on the boat even hotter when the bite's start happinin'. For any of your custom jig need's for this technique please visit us at: www.castawaycustomlures.com
